Is Religion Real?

At one point in my life I became confused about what the 'true' religion was, as in my investigation, the basis of all the major religions all seemed to be saying the same thing, and then I began to ask the silly question of 'Is God Real?'. In being selfish, in my submission to suffering, I began to say I didn't believe in God. Upon contemplation however, i realized the absurdity of this claim, and began to realize that I was asking the wrong question. The question I should have been asking is 'Is Religion Real?'.

I have recently realized the answer to this question, and that answer is no. Religion is not real, only truth is real. Truth has made itself manifest through various ages, in various cultures and geographic locations. Religion is a man-made idea just like class and racial stereotypes. With the idea of religion, those who call themselves Christians believe that they worship a different God than do the Buddhists or Muslims, but it's not true.

Now someone may ask me the question of 'well if religion is not real. then how can I call myself a Baha'i?'. Well for me, calling myself a Baha'i is more of something that I must do because of the concept of religion being ingrained into humanity, but really for me, it is not a 'new' religion, but rather a confirmation of the truths that have come before, and will continue to manifest in days to come.
